Sunset Trails 4-H
4-H is a community of young people across America, learning leadership, citizenship and life skills. The four H’s stand for: Head, Heart, Hands and Health. The 4-H clover has an H on each of its four leaves to remind members what they are striving for.
In 4-H members “learn by doing”. This means members learn through hands on activities they experience through club meetings, project work and by practicing their new skills with caring, certified adult 4-H leaders and staff.
Sunset Trails 4-H is based in Lee's Summit, MO. Members of our club are involved in many projects including horsemanship, foods, shooting sports, and photography to name a few. We are also involved in doing community service and fun activities including campouts, group outings and monthly meetings ran by our own youth members.
The 4-H Pledge
“I Pledge my Head to clearer thinking,
my Heart to greater loyalty,
my Hands to larger service,
and my Health to better living,
for my club, my community, my country, and my world”
The 4-H Mottos
“To Make The Best Better”
The motto was adopted at about the same time as the 4-H Club Pledge. Its intent is to inspire young people to continue to learn and grow, to make their best efforts better through participating in educational experiences.
“Learning by Doing”
This phrase sums up the educational philosophy of the 4-H program. Young people learn best when they are involved in their learning.
The intent is to do, reflect, and apply.
